Harriet 's Story
Life
I have lived in charleston since I graduated from James Island High. I had gotten married in 1969 and became divorced while in nursing school. I graduated from Medical University (College Of Allied Health Sciences). I got a degree for Practical Nursing in 1972. I have worked as an L.P.N. off and on since that time. I later married again in 1975 to Fred Stender, Jr. I got pregnant early and had a son in 1976. In 1979, I gave birth to a daughter. I went back to work in nursing while our children were still young. I have worked in clinics, doctors offices, assisted living facilties, nursing homes, homes, and hospitals. I have also done some marking and receiving and sales work for various stores. life together. We used to go to Hilton Head with our children on summer vacations. Just the two of us have had vacations together too. We loved the beach. We lived on James Island the first 4 years of our marriage, 18 years in a home West Ashley, and about 9 years in another home West Ashley. In 1996 my husband retired with a lung condition and went on disability. On December 18, 2005, He went into respiratory problems and died in the hospital. We were married for almost 31 years. He was a wonderful husband and father. I really miss him alot. I have`nt descided yet whether I will move or not. Most of my family is here in Charleston. My son lives outside of Nashville, Tennessee and my daughter lives in North Charleston. I have no plans in moving at this time to another city.
